Monaghan Brothers as a business has been in existence for over 50 years. Founded by the late Mr Jim Monaghan and his brother Joe they continued to develop their business and diversify into many aspects of the motor industry. Below is a timeline showing some of the many changes this organisation has encountered during all its years in business.
1957 – Car repairs began at Curryann Maguiresbridge Co. Fermanagh with Engine, brake and axle repairs.
1960 – Saw the expansion of their car business with both car and tractor sales on the existing Curryann site.
1970 – In this year the company purchased land in Lisnaskea on the main road into the town from Mr Gilbert Tunney. From this site in Lisnaskea the company opened up used car sales and became a retail dealer for opel
1968 -1971 – With a growing customer base the company found that the current Curryann site could no long accommodate their operations and so decided to purchase land on the main
1971 – After three years of business on the
1972 – In this year the company not resting on their laures diversified into the sales of heavy commercial vehicles from
1973 – Introduction of the Audi franchise for both sales and service at Forthill Street Enniskillen.
1975 – To add to their already huge selection of used cars the Mitsubishi franchise was taken on board at the site in Lisnaskea.
1978 – With big things in mind Modern Motors added another dimension to the business with the acquirement of Daihatsu UK.
1979 – Monaghan Brothers in Lisnaskea add the world’s largest car manufacture to the portfolio Ford.
1990 – The company adds Seat
1991 – This year seen the Lisnaskea branch take on the Korean car magnet Hyundai now known as HMUK.
1994 – Man trucks were added to the already successful site in Enniskillen.
1995 – 2002 – At this stage Monaghan Brothers has grown immensely over the last 45 years and holds some of the biggest
2002 – This year seen the end of an era. All operations at the Enniskillen branch came to a stop and were sold to the Donnelly group (Dunngannon).
2002 – Present Day – Till this day Monaghan Brothers name is still very much alive in Lisnaskea, with Ford Hyundai being well represented as well as a used car centre with over 60 quality used cars in stock backed by a fully functional accident repair centre and 24-hour recovery service. Monaghan Brothers may have changed its exterior looks and expanded on the current site but its interior values of caring, excellence of service and high standards of service still remain. Currently Monaghan Brothers has a team of over 35+ members of staff ranging from our sales team to Valetors. We have a highly trained aftersales and motability team to steer you in the right direction as well as a fully approved accident repair centre for those minor or major scrapes.
